| Introduction
We, at Children's Technology Workshop, believe that there exists a "Da Vinci" in every child. Leonardo Da Vinci was a futuristic thinker, and both an artist and a scientist. In India, our education system pigeonholes children into the "math-science" or "art" or "commerce" background. The early years of a child are its most formative, and we at CTWorkshop use mind-knowledge-interest building and sustaining tools such as Lego that provide students an opportunity to try math and science concepts from various perspectives, the artist to the "robotist".
About CTWorkshop
Children's Technology Workshop was founded in 1997 in Toronto, Canada, by Darryl Reiter, a parent and educator. Darryl, then a middle school technology coordinator and science teacher at the Toronto Science Museum, created a series of programmes that use students' interest in technology to provide a dynamic and supportive environment which nurtures a child's interests and abilities. Since 1997, Children's Technology Workshop has grown globally to encompass Asia (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Malaysia, and Singapore) and South Africa.
In Mumbai, Children's Technology Workshop is an initiative of Ms. Asha Sundararajan, to bring the newest and best of breed educational technology programs to students in India that can rival learning experiences of students worldwide. Ms. Sundararajan has her Master's in Education from Teachers College Columbia University, New York and has worked in private and public schools in New York. In particular, Children's Technology Workshop Mumbai distinguishes itself by:
- Offering technology programmes for students ages 4-16
- Leveraging an extensive collection of resources such as Lego, and MindStorms in particular, that are used extensively in teaching worldwide
- Having highly trained facilitators who include engineers and teachers, and specialists
- A Student: Teacher ratio = 7:1
Today CTWorkshop Mumbai, the first of its kind in India, stands unparalled in India, in both its commitment to quality and diversity in outreach.
