Introduction
Bringing Astronomy Down to Earth

For millenniums, people have looked up into the night-sky wondering about their origins, tracking celestial bodies and drawing corelations between the earth-sky movements.

Mobile Planetarium
Welcome to Discovery Dome India. We are an affiliate of DiscoveryDome, USA, leaders in the field of portable digital theatres. Discovery Dome e-Planetarium®, is led by Prof. Patricia Reiff, Director of the Rice Space Institute at Rice University, Houston, Texas. In addition, our founder, Ms. Asha Sundararajan trained at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the Afterschool Universe Program.

AfterSchool Universe
A curriculum designed by NASA's Goddard Flight Space Centre

Afterschool Universe is an out-of-school-time astronomy program targeted at students between the ages of 9 and 14. It explores astronomy concepts through engaging hands-on activities and takes participants on a journey through the Universe beyond the solar system. Students are fascinated by the cosmos and topics such as star birth, star death, and black holes. But they rarely have an opportunity to explore that interest as the school curriculum does not typically address these topics. Our programs fill this niche as the school years are a critical time in the development of attitudes about science and career options.

Introduction
Space, The Final Frontier

On April 12th 1961, Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space, making a 108-minute orbital flight on his Vostok 1 spacecraft. Less than a month later, on May 5th 1961, Astronaut Alan Shepard, became the first American in space. On April 2nd 1984, in a joint Indo-Russian Space Mission, Commander Rakesh Sharma, was the first Indian in Space. He was broadcast live saying "Sare Jahan se Accha, Hindutan hamara. "

We at CTWorkshop, offer a humble introduction to honour these and many other brave humans who have paved the path for us. Our flight and rocketry program introduces students to properties of air, leading to the question "Why does a rocket travel to space?" The rest, is yours to conquer.

Program Descriptions

Introduction to Astronomy, Ages 9 - 14
Inspired by kinesthetic-astronomy and mobile planetarium shows, students walk away feeling like "Stars". The topics covered are Cosmos, Celestial bodies, telescopes, spectroscopes, invisible light, electro-magnetic spectrum, life cycle of stars, galaxies, and black holes, a introduction to constellations, astro-photography, and astro-monuments.

Ace of Space, ages 14+
Ace of Space takes you into a journey of the night-sky with a deeper study of atronomical monuments and astro-photography.

Flight & Rocketry, ages 9 -14
Can you travel to space in a helicopter, or a concorde? Well, set your heights high as you build parachutes and examine why a rocket takes you to space. Also, a great way to beat the heat as you launch a water bottle rocket.

AstroClub
The AstroClub meets every fortnight between September and March to continue to explore the interests in astronomy.

Special Events
Families are welcome to travel out of Mumbai to an out of this world experience such as observing the night sky and the milky way, geminids meteor shower and other such field trips. Please email us at info@ctworkshop.in to be included in our communications.
