Introduction
On April 12th 1961, Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space, making a 108-minute orbital flight on his Vostok 1 spacecraft. Less than a month later, on May 5th 1961, Astronaut Alan Shepard, became the first American in space. On April 2nd 1984, in a joint Indo-Russian Space Mission, Commander Rakesh Sharma, was the first Indian in Space. He was broadcast live saying "Sare Jahan se Accha, Hindutan hamara. " |
